Yellow Octopus Friend on Mug

My art teacher assigned to the students for us to make clay mugs however we like. This project was my first time sculpting a mug so it proved to be challenging but enjoyable. Octopi are one of my favorite sea creatures so I added one with its tentacles wrapping around the mug. Unfortunately, with this design it cannot function as a drinking mug since the tentacles are in the way and fragile. Adding black outlines became difficult because it started mixing and smearing with the yellow and white. Also his top hat looks like a Starburst candy to me.
